Andrew helps clients identify and deliver their strategic and financial solutions through written research, financial due diligence, and business strategy. Over his 30 year career in banking, he has developed many long term partnerships in business and grown profitable businesses as MD at Credit Suisse and CEO at Evolution Securities. More recently, he has been Chairman at Leeds United. He has an Honours degree in Business Studies.
Doug qualified as a Chartered Accountant at KPMG. He has worked on various corporate finance mandates, financial restructurings and fund raisings covering football, rugby, esports, sports marketing as well as general industry sectors over the last 22 years. Doug is an experienced corporate finance expert to the High Court of London and holds a first-class degree in economics and finance from Manchester University where he graduated top of his year.
Tom joined in 2018 and leads the team on a variety of sports investment projects (strategy consulting, due diligence, advisory) on both the investor and rightsholder sides. Tom is also part of the sports technology team managing investor and company relationships. His sports experience spans cricket, rugby, tennis, padel, esports, football and horse racing. He also assists the partners in sports valuation analysis. Tom graduated from the University of Bath with a degree in Economics and Politics and is currently studying for a diploma in corporate finance.
Prerna graduated with a 2:1 BA (Hons) International Football Business degree and joins the Oakwell team as a 6-month Placement Analyst. Prerna will be working on live projects in football and sports technology as well as studying for a CISI Corporate Finance Certificate.
Alex joined Oakwell in 2021 from GCA Altium where he focused on private technology and consumer M&A deals. He is an experienced corporate finance professional having advised both private and listed clients. As part of the sports technology advisory practice, he helps companies with their fundraising needs, assisting with IM creation, modeling and returns analysis. Alex has passed his CFA level 2 and holds a BSc in Economics from the University of Birmingham.
Andrew is a very well-known figure in the sports management and media business, with over forty years’ experience. He has worked with many of the biggest rights holders, media owners, agencies and sports brands in the world. Andrew was the first Head of Sport at BSB, the forerunner to Sky Sports, and started and ran IMG’s global football division.
In 2007, as Executive Chairman, he co-founded the digital sports rights agency, Perform Group, now DAZN, the live and on-demand sports streaming service. He remains an adviser to Stats Perform, the leading sports data and streaming service. He also consulted to Hawk-Eye for ten years until 2019, focussing on the introduction of technology into football, and was also Chairman of Play Sports Group, which included the Global Cycling Network - the world’s leading community of cycling fans - until its sale to Discovery Networks in 2019.
David is a Chartered Accountant. He was CEO of Wasps RFC until mid 2017 where he successfully acquired and moved Wasps to the Ricoh Arena site as well as successfully leading their £35m retail bond raise. His work at Oakwell encompasses strategy, funding, and restructuring. David is also currently CEO of the Racecourse Association (RCA) and Chair of Modern Pentathlon.
Nic graduated from the University of Bristol with a First-Class Degree in Economics in 2018 followed by a Master’s Degree in Development Economics at the University of Amsterdam. With prior experience in a sports consultancy, he joined Oakwell in 2020 and has contributed to reports on Football and Rugby.
Mathew retired from professional rugby in 2019 after a 15-year career comprising club and country alongside representing player interests as an active RPA board member. He recently graduated from the University of Salford with a Masters distinction in Sports Directorship and is undertaking the CIMA cert BA.
Charlie graduated with a First-class Master’s degree in Business with Strategic Economics at The University of Edinburgh in 2020. Charlie was also placed on the President’s and Dean’s Honours lists for academic achievement during his year abroad at the University of South Carolina. Charlie has been working on live projects across Cricket & Rugby.
Kay Dammholz is a sports marketing expert working with Oakwell on a selection of European projects & the Founder/CEO of SASS Media based in Germany. His career began at ISL/Challenge, Sportfive and Kentaro, before taking global responsibility for the Bundesliga’s international media rights sales in the role of Vice President Sales, DFL Sports Enterprises from 2008 to 2016.
Most recently, Kay played a key role in the development and success of the disruptive sports streaming provider DAZN as Managing Director Rights & Distribution (DACH). Today SASS Media GmbH provides its clients with consulting, marketing and investment expertise in the sports sector built on over 20 years of industry experience and excellent international contacts.
Through Oakwell’s equity investment in Halfspace Ltd, where Rory is co-founder, we provide clients with revenue driving digital solutions across sponsorship, media rights, ticketing and ecommerce using advanced data technology and fan engagement expertise. Rory’s 20 years in the sports, entertainment and media sectors cover IMG Media and WPP owned Groupm.
