Case Study: Caribbean Premier League

The Challenge

To assist Digicel Group Holdings Limited (DGHL) with respect to its divestment options of its majority stake in the Caribbean Premier League.

Oakwell's Role

Oakwell provided an initial independent valuation of the CPL for DGHL prior to running a targeted sales process in relation to their majority ownership in CSIL, the ultimate parent company of the CPL. Oakwell executed a highly focused process engaging with a select group of industry-leading strategic investors creating a highly competitive sale. Oakwell also managed other key cricketing stakeholders and shareholders enabling a smooth sale in a highly political transaction.

Result

In December 2024 DGHL successfully sold their stake in CSIL to Denis O’Brien, an existing shareholder in the CPL since 2013 when the CPL was launched.
