As part of its drive to increase its global strategic position in the market, the world’s largest and fastest source of live horse racing data, Total Performance Data (TPD), called on Oakwell Sports Advisory to advise on its capital growth fundraise.
The move comes as TPD seeks to open up increased betting opportunities within horse racing like those enjoyed across other major sports, where live data and live prices translate to in-play betting forming over 70% of turnover. In keeping with this, TPD have recently partnered with PA Betting Services in an in-play distribution deal which sees its live in-running prices now available to more than 40 bookmakers around the world.
Eamonn Wilmott, Chairman at Total Performance Data, said:
“Oakwell truly understands sport, media and finance so they were the obvious choice. Their network and input into our most recent fundraise helped ensure it was significantly oversubscribed.”
“This new funding, and the recent strategic purchases that it facilitated, will allow Will Duff Gordon and the team at TPD to drive the company forward at this exciting time. We look forward to continuing to work with Andrew, Doug and the team at Oakwell as other opportunities arise.”
Andrew Umbers & Doug Harmer, Founding Partners at Oakwell Sports Advisory, said:
“We are proud to have advised TPD and its shareholders on this pivotal growth capital fundraise from VCs & HNWs in the Oakwell network. TPD is now well-positioned to unlock the in-play data markets in the UK & internationally and we look forward to seeing the business transform the sport in the years to come.”
“Oakwell continues to leverage its position at the convergence between sport, media & cutting-edge technology companies, underpinned by first-class investor and rights-holder relationships. This transaction is a further testament to Oakwell’s expertise in the Sports Data & Technology sectors.”
